GTA 4 - Best mods/How to install mods/Install 100% saved games



Explaining "HOW TO" install mods and install completed saved games.
Showing mph or kmh speed of the cars, Firstperson, Realistic car handling, Trainer (cheats over 40+), Buy cars, More blood!, Change player, Ride along.

I will explain as much possible with the knowledge that I possess how to install these.

These mods has been created for fun usage only and should be respected to their own perspective creators.
The game is fun on it's own, But to go further let's costumize it on our own taste.



1. STEPS TO KNOW & TAKE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING:

Before we begin to mod, There is something you should know & do:
  • We are going to USE Xliveless and NOT ASI LOADER

  • GTA 4 should be clean, so it has never been modded before (If it was modded before, please if possible get it back to it's normal state! IF you can't then just continue with my tutorial and see if it works)

  • This is 100% safe and revertable

  • It's for COMPUTER (PC) only so NO GAMING CONSOLES (xbox360, ps3, ...)

  • Read the IMPORTANT blue notes next to those stars*

  • All online functions are disabled (to prevent cheating in multiplayer)



2. STEPS TO MAKE GTA 4 COMPITABLE WITH MODS:
*Update your GTA 4 to one of these versions 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004 or it won't work!!!
*After doing this step, the saved games will be moved to another folder and will be recovered in the next step if you want

  1. Download "xliveless 0.999b7" (Created by computermaster)
    Check for updates or troubleshooting here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=388658

  2. Once you downloaded "xliveless" open it with an extractor (with winrar or 7zip).

  3. Move or copy "xlive.dll" to "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV"

  4. To make sure it's working, get ingame and see if your saved games are gone or not.

  5. Choose one of these steps that resembles your outcome:
    1. IF your saved games are NOT gone, then STOP doing anything! Just delete xlive.dll from your GTA 4 root and continue playing the game normally or read the NOTE below for another way to mod the game (You can try over and see if works).
    2. IF your saved games are gone, then it's working!! Just continue to next step.

  6. Don't panic we will get saved games back just on step 3.

NOTE: There is also an other way to do this, it's called "Livewrapper" or "Magic" or something.
But those are just harder to install.



3. STEPS TO INSTALL A SAVEDGAME:
*Do you want to use 100% completed then do the step 1.1
*Do you want to use your previous saved game do the step 1.2

  1. Get saved game from one of these steps:
    1. Download saved game one from here:
      http://www.thegtaplace.com/downloads/c69-gta-iv-save-games
    2. Get your previous saved game from here:
      C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames
      (Username is your computers name and hidden folders needs to be shown!)

  2. Copy the saved game from previous step to this place:
    • (for Windows Vista or 7) %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\
    • (for Windows XP) %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\




4. STEPS TO INSTALL SCRIPT MODS:
*Script mods (SM) allows you to costumize GTA 4 without replacing anything (like fps view)
*These steps will work with most scripts

  1. Just download a Script Mod (SM) from:
    (Recommend for the first time usage script is Simple Native Trainer)
  2. Open or extract it with an archive extractor (with winrar or 7zip)

  3. Copy or move it in to GTA 4 root "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV"

  4. Now read the readme to see which keys on keyboard or mousebuttons are used to operate the mod and get ingame to test it out

NOTE: IF these steps do not work , then read the readme if there is one with the script mod.



5. STEPS TO INSTALL REPLACING MODS:
*Replacing mods (RM) will replace your orginal GTA 4 data's (like cars)
*BACKUP the data's you are going to replace!!!

  1. Just download a Replacing Mod (RM) from:
  2. Extract it and make sure you follow the instruction in "Readme" inside the Replacing Mod (RM) and BACKUP THE GTA 4 files that you are going to replace first!

  3. Mostly the Readme would give these options:
    1. That you need to extract the data from the Replace Mod (RM) to a folder inside GTA 4 and replace an data
    2. That you need "SparkIV tool" or "OpenIV" or something, Then download it and do it as it says in the readme.

NOTE: Those tools "SparkIV" or "OpenIV" makes it possible to open the files that are protected in GTA 4 and used to replace a car model (It can be used for more things).

    It is not working. I've followed all the steps, but it ain't working. I've copied my savegames after installing xliveless, but still game starts from the beginning, I've tried first person mod, but it ain't working.

    It is not a mod. Just install firstperson mod to let you show in first person view and find a "woman" that wants to give you the blowy.

    Okay, it is not working. I am almost positive i installed everything. (i have the steam version) and i will go to launch the game, then a cmd like window pops up for a few seconds, then goes away and the game does not start. i probably just did somthing wrong

    Do you have EFLC? or only the GTA4?
